Term 1


KERPOW!  Intergalactic greetings, young heroes.  It’s time to rescue the planet from evil villains!  Who’s your favourite hero?  Maybe your heroes are ordinary people who’ve achieved great things. 
Use your special senses to identify mystery items by their smell, taste, sound and touch.  What do true superheroes eat to keep their senses and special powers sharp?
Can we stop the dastardly plans of Professor Slime?  He’s dropping his villainous instructions around town.  We must stop people following them, but can we make it in time?

Term 2

Whizz, Bang and Pop

Whizz, Bang, Pop, Crackle….What’s that noise?  What are those lights?  Come and watch the amazing show!  Immerse yourself in the bright lights and sounds of a firework display.  Learn about celebrations that use light and sound. 
Join in and make your own instruments and colourful flags to join in the celebrations.   How do you like to celebrate?  
Find out about important events in history that involved fire such as the Great fire of London and Bonfire Night and how these events are remembered today.

Term 3

Land Ahoy

Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!  Arr... me hearties – it’s a sailor’s life for me!  Get your sea legs on, it’s time to sail the salty seas.  Navigate, investigate and explore the world, like Captain Cook.  Make a boat, sink a ship, or fly a pirate flag! 
How do rescues happen at sea?  Find out about brave volunteers and young Miss Darling, rowing her boat across the stormy seas.  Sing a sea shanty whilst cleaning the poop deck, then search the grounds for Captain Longbeard’s hidden treasure.
Thar’s land ahead, me buckos!  Let’s get t’ship t’port!

Term 4

Muck, Mess and Mixtures

Let’s get messy!  Muck and mess is good!  In fact, it’s mega-marvellous!  Dive in and get your hands and feet all sticky and covered in paint.  Play with liquids, squish some dough and check out the slushiest and mushiest foods.
Pour, mix, stir, splat!  How does it feel to get your hands covered in goo?  Make a wobbly jelly and draw with wibbly clay.  Write recipes, instructions, riddles and poems.  Work with paint and other squelchy stuff to create a new gallery space.  What will you make?
Don’t worry about the’ll always wash away!

Term 5

Wriggle and Crawl

Grab your coat and pooter – we’re going out and about on a minibeast hunt!  Sweep your nets in puddles and ponds and lift up logs to see who’s home.  Then set up your own minibeast laboratory and observe their every move.   Add notes and labels and ask your own research questions – just like a real entomologist!
Learn about bees and worms and butterflies too.  Then animate to show how your favourite bug transforms from one form to another, perhaps a caterpillar to a butterfly or a maggot to a fly....urgh!
On your belly, legs at the ready, it’s time to wriggle and crawl!

Term 6


Oh I do like to be beside the seaside….grab your bucket and spade because we are off to the beach!  Find out what makes the seaside such a popular holiday destination in this country and around the world.  Learn how seaside holidays have changed over the last century and enjoy seaside attractions such as donkey rides and Punch and Judy shows.  Ask your grandparents about their seaside holidays and compare them to your own.  Remember, don’t forget to pack your swimsuit although the water is chilly! 


Year B

Term 1


Stomp, crash, RRRAGH!  Watch out everyone – the dinosaurs are on the prowl!  They’re rampaging across the dusty earth, swishing their enormous tails and baring their fearsome teeth...
Let’s explore Dinosaur Planet!  Imagine you’re a palaeontologist (that’s a scientist who studies bones and fossils).  Dig deep and discover dazzling dinosaur facts.
What is your favourite dinosaur?  The Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Brachiosaurus or the Doyouthinkhesawus?  Yes he did... RUN!!!

Term 2

Paws, Claws and Whiskers

Soft fur, sharp claws and twitching whiskers... what’s your favourite animal?  One that meows?  One that barks?  Or maybe one that slithers?
From pets to zoo animals, let’s find out what animals like to eat and where they like to sleep.  Find out how the elephant got its trunk and the rhinoceros its leathery skin.  Who is a herbivore and who is a carnivore?
When a gaggle of mysterious pets arrive at the local pet shop, it’s up to you to take care of them.  Feed them, clean them and discover their daily needs.  After all that work, curl up and take a nap – a cap nap!

Term 3


Roll up, roll up and come and watch the show!  From daredevil stunts to high trapeze acts, you’ll be holding your breath as the performers take to the ring.  You’ll be laughing out loud as the clowns take to the floor and you’ll be holding your breath when the strong man lifts the weights!  Run away to the circus by finding out about the different acts and performers that work in a circus.  Be a ring master and introduce all of the amazing acts.  Don’t forget to bring your ticket as the show is fully booked!

Term 4

Enchanted Woodland

If you go down to the woods today, you’re sure of a BIG surprise!
Foxes and badgers, voles and mice, beady-eyed owls in the swaying tree tops. Beneath the leaves are tiny footprints... animal or imp?  You decide!
Deciduous or evergreen?  What can you find?  Can you match a leaf to its tree?
Let’s build a den, stick by stick and branch by branch.  Then let’s party down in the woods, with Mr Fox and all his woodland friends.  We’d better not get lost...let’s leave a trail of conkers as we go!

Term 5

Splendid Skies

Imagine floating high above land and sea on a bed of clouds, silently sweeping by on a billowing breeze.  Back down to earth, let’s take a walk outside.  What should we wear?  Wellington boots?  A sun hat?  How do we know what the weather will be like today?
Read and write poems and postcards... and, if you don’t like today’s weather report, why not write your own?  Send a message by balloon.  Up, up and away it goes, high in the sky and over the rainbow.  How far will the wind blow it?
What weather do you prefer?  Sunshine, snow, storms or showers?  Get your Wellingtons on – let’s go!

Term 6


See the castle ahead?  Get ready to invade its mighty walls!  Shoot a projectile with an archer’s aim!  Meet Rapunzel who lives in a tall, tall tower.  Let’s build a brand new one...Whose is the tallest? 
What’s that sound?  I hear little hooves going trip, trap, trip, trap over the rickety bridge.  Watch out for the troll!  Make sure the bridge is sturdy enough!
Finally, meet three little pig, who need your help to build a fortress.  Keep them safe from the big, bad wolf!  No huffing and puffing will blow your fortress down.
