Lower Key Stage 2
In Years 3 and 4, our curriculum is designed to ensure that children can access a diverse and engaging range of foundation subjects that not only challenge but also inspire them to develop a love for learning. These subjects encompass areas such as history, geography, art, and design technology, allowing students to explore their interests while gaining a well-rounded education. We place a strong emphasis on fostering independence, encouraging pupils to take ownership of their learning journey. This autonomy is further enhanced through collaborative projects, where children work together to solve problems and share ideas, thereby cultivating essential social skills and teamwork.
Recognising the pivotal role parents play in their children’s education, we actively promote parental involvement by encouraging families to read with their children daily. To support this, we provide a selection of reading for pleasure books tailored to different reading levels, enabling shared reading experiences at home that reinforce the importance of literacy and comprehension. Parents and children enjoy reading together, which fosters a supportive learning environment beyond the classroom.
Pupils thoroughly relish the opportunity to engage in online learning through interactive platforms such as Times Table Rockstars. This particular resource not only assists in reinforcing mathematical skills but also incorporates a competitive element that motivates students to improve and excel in their times tables. By combining enjoyment with learning, we strive to create an enriching curriculum that ultimately prepares our pupils for future academic challenges.
