Upper Key Stage 2

In Year 5 and 6, our children are afforded the opportunity to engage with the Key Stage 2 curriculum through a diverse array of foundation subjects that not only challenge them intellectually but also inspire a lifelong love of learning. This phase of education is characterised by an increased focus on fostering independence, ownership, and collaboration among pupils, equipping them with essential skills as they transition into Key Stage 3.

Teachers play a pivotal role in this development by providing opportunities for external visits to various events, enabling pupils to gain firsthand experience of real-world skills and applications of their learning. Such experiences are invaluable as they bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for the challenges and expectations that lie ahead.

Furthermore, we actively encourage parents to participate in their children's educational journey by reading together at home, thus reinforcing the importance of literacy. In addition, pupils derive great enjoyment from online learning platforms such as Times Table Rockstars, where the competitive elements of the resource serve to enhance their mathematical skills while making learning engaging and enjoyable. Through these varied approaches, we strive to create a stimulating environment that supports and nurtures each child’s potential.
